Welcome
SWGMDI was created in March 2011 and operated until its completion in 2014 with support from the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) through an Interagency agreement with the FBI. Members were from local, state, or federal agencies, research institutions, or organizations which support medicolegal death investigations, and represent the medical examiner, coroner, medicolegal death investigator and forensic community at large.
In 2014, SWGMDI transitioned into OSAC which is part of an initiative by NIST and the Department of Justice to strengthen forensic science in the United States. The organization is a collaborative body of more than 500 forensic science practitioners and other experts who represent local, state, and federal agencies; academia; and industry. Thank you for your attention to this worthwhile process. This website will remain active until November 2015.
Sincerely,
John Fudenberg SWGMDI Chair 2011-14
